Quando mi capita di uscire al momento giusto, quando si sta avvicinando il crepuscolo, so di per certo che delle belle foto sono dietro l'angolo.

When I go out with my camera at just the right moment, when dusk is near, I know that good pictures are around the corner.

Sono tornato / I'm back

Lo so, sono stato lontano da questo blog fotografico per un'eternità.
Sono stato e sono tutt'ora stregato dai social network, i loro feedback immediati creano dipendenza psicologica.
Piano piano però mi riapproprierò di questo blog perchè bene o male sui vari FB e simili, le persone che possono vedere le cose che faccio sono sempre quella stretta cerchia di conoscenze mentre qua ci può capitare chiunque.

I know, I've been away from this blog for far too long.
I've been taken prisoner by the more immediate and addictive joy -and pain- of the real-time feedback that FB and similar sites provide.
Anyway, I'll take back my place on this blog because I've come to realize that into a social network the people seeing my things are the same inner circle of friends but anybody can come here, though.

Domenica pomeriggio / Sunday afternoon

In questo periodo dell'anno il tramonto e la luce dorata tipica del sole di taglio arrivano presto, è stato suffciente andare a spasso verso le 5 di pomeriggio per avere una bellissima luce naturale.

This month of the year sunset and the golden light typical of the setting sun come very early in the afternoon. I just took a walkabout at 5 pm to get a wonderful natural light.

Simmetrie / Symmetries

Ho scoperto una cosa interessante: mi piacciono le simmetrie, che mi vengono molto bene utilizzando quelle guide che molti giudicano di troppo nei mirini e negli schermi delle macchine fotografiche moderne.
A me garbano.

I found out a thing: I like Symmetries. I find it very easy to compose them utilizing that grid-guides that many photographers judge cumbersome and useless.
I fancy them.

Bacchette della batteria / Drumsticks

Queste sono le mie primissime bacchette per suonare, le ho conservate da quel lontano 1993 in cui cominciai a pestare su una batteria.
Non ho mai smesso.

These are my very first drumsticks. I kept them since the year I began playing drums (1993, circa).
Never stopped playing since.

E quasi o niente ritocchi con Photoshop. La maggior parte sono proprio così come sono state scattate.

Sembra un porticciolo / It resembles a little pier

Glamour

Ho avuto il piacere di farmi un set di foto glamour in casa.
Complice un'amica che aveva bisogno di immagini per la sua tesi in design di gioielli, ho dato sfogo alle tecniche imparate su Strobist (del grandissimo David Hobby) e questo è il risultato.
Le ultime due immagini sono una sorta di Backstage per chi è interessato a questo genere di cose.

I just had the pleasure to make my apartment a glamour photo set.
With a frend who needed some images to complement her graduation thesis (a paper on jewel design), I gave fire to my SB 800 and used the Strobist (by the great David Hobby) techniques to achieve a great result.
The last two pictures are a sort of backstage for the ever hungry photographers who die for this type of things.

Una settimana di foto - A week in pictures

Ci sono settimane nelle quali riesco a scattare delle foto decenti in giorni differenti, coi soggetti più diversi.

Some weeks I shoot very different subjects and situations and I get some decent results by concentrating on different things.

Teatro / Theater

Ho avuto il piacere di scattare delle foto ad un recente spettacolo teatrale, dove la luce era poca e bastarda.
Però grazie alla tecnologia ho ottenuto delle belle immagini lo stesso.
Un applauso agli ISO 3200.

I went to a play recently, where I had the pleasure of shooting some images, in spite of a terrible harsh and low light.
I got some nice images, anyway, thanks to the modern technology.
